I'm going to Vietnam on March 3 (duration 5days) and need some advice on what mic to bring and any tips.
I'll be filming a medical mission documentary with a host who will be doing some interviews. I was thinking of using a short shotgun mic and cabled handheld mic.
I was considering a wireless lav and handheld mics but it's out of my budget. I figured, the shotgun mic would do the job. Final documentary will be 5-7mins.
Do you recommend any shotgun mic for this job?

Here is what i'm bringing.(i'm trying to pack as lightly as possible to be mobile)
-DVX100
-12 MiniDV tapes
-AKG headphones
-3 Batteries
-1 10' xlr cable
-1 handheld mic
-Lowepro Rolling CompuTrekker Plus AW backpack
-Apple 15'' Laptop
-G-drive 100Gb external hardrive
