Filming from boat

Dear all,
I am finding that filming from a boat is becoming a big challenge. Especially when it is a large motor launch. When I sight a large crocodile on the banks, it becomes difficult to get it steady. In the current, the motor launch driver is not willing to switch off and the vibrations are a bit hard. So my heavy OConnor fluid head and tripods are of no use. So use of long lens (800mm ) becomes impossible. I am forced to shoot handheld using a Canon EF 70-200 f2.8 L IS II USM with 2x TC to get a max focal length of 400mm. I would like to know how you guys manage filming from a motor boat.

Any tips for filming from a non-motorised boat? You can see a short clip here: http://www.indiawilds.com/diary/indiawilds-newsletter-vol-4-issue-vii/

I have had several preliminary visits filming with a Canon 1D Mark IV and planning on my filming after getting a new Canon cinema camera (hopefully they announce the 1D C at a low price soon :) ). All tips from a cinematography perspective, including suitable rigs will be helpful.
