Filming Birthday Events!?

Hey guys!
Just wondering if you guys have some time helping me out a bit!

My friends dad is having his 50 birthdayparty soon, and it's going to be pretty big!
He asked me if I could shoot it for him!
And now I'm just wondering if you guys have some tips or cool ideas of making the whole video much more fun to look at!
Not imagewise but productionwise.

It's going to be edited and then ending up on a DVD.
I was thinking of doing some interviews with some of the guest and such stuff!

Would be very helpfull if you'd share some of your cool ideas! I know you guys got a lot of 'em ;)

Re: Filming Birthday Events!?

Very timely! I am attending a 60th birthday celebration of a good friend this weekend, and have been thinking about doing something for him.

So - I plan to shoot all that obvious stuff - a toast, cake-cutting, singing, gift-opening, etc. I'd like to get a few guests to share some stories about him on camera - they all will have much to say, I am sure. I want to get his kids (both grown up - obviously) to say a few words. All this intercut with shots from the celebration. Lastly, I want to get a surprise - ask his wife, as she is the keeper of the family albums, to get some nice/memorable/funny pictures that I'd scan, and cut those into the stories as well.

I would like to get the final cut under ten minutes.

If you or anyone else has any ideas, I want to hear them!

Good luck with your project, rajko_bajko!
