Filming at night.

I'm telling you once I get 1080i all my night scene are going 1080i. I could shoot 60i but unless you tack HD on to that a lot of people will simply think "Oh he shot of video" but informing them it's HD alerts the viewer that it's somehow special. Whatever. My idea is shooting 24p HDV and 1080i HDV for night.

If you actually do need extra lights buy one or two 500 watt halos from Home Depot or Mennards (they're about $40 max and come with stands) and grab some blue gels (or use the aforementioned white balance trick) to cover the front of the lights.

You can also pick up 500 and 1000 watt CTB lamps at FILMTOOLS or other supply house- they are pricier than the lamps you'll find at Home Depot, but you can pop em in your worklights and be ready to go when you need them- helpful in case you forget (or burn up) your gels.
