Filming a car scene.

I need to film a car scene. I have two choices: Either I film the people in the car against a blue screen and add the passing background later or I rent a cinema truck and do it the old fashioned expensive way by putting the car on a rig. Has anybody tried either one of these methods and could the person give me some feedback. Thank you.

Day or night? If it's night, there's always the "Poor Man's Process." Google it. I've seen some pretty ridiculously good results with this method.

Good luck.

Not sure what you want but I got some cool images the other day by flipping footage I ahd taken shooting out the moving car window. Flipped and layered back over a shot of me in the car looked like it was taken from outside the moving car with the windows up.

Chromakeying has the advantage of allowing you to fully control lighting. If you have the VFX skill then it's probably the most cost effective option.

Other than that there's nothing wrong with just rigging the camera outside and have someone actually drive the car. If you have a sound guy who knows how to boom properly then sound should not be a problem. I did it a while back where my sound guy hung out in the backseat with a mic pointing backward to the actors sitting in front; didn't pick up the engine sound at all.
