Film vs Digital: surprising results!

It's not surprising at all. When you go into an experiment already knowing the results you'll probably be right.

There is no right or wrong answer to this, and there are a lot of variables that can't be all considered in any test.

Film labs are so rare these days... they must be charging premium

So what if it's from 2009? Does that make it obsolete? A lot of the reference books in my local library pre-date 2009....

Because there has been nearly 4 years of digital camera technology improvements since then.

For video the comparison around that vintage would have been with the Panavision Genesis and Sony F35. More recently through in at least the ARRI Alexa.

...Not exactly a fair test. He's comparing a huge 6x4.5cm 120 film camera against a tiny Nikon APS-C D300 digital camera.

I'm sure the results would be different if he chose a 35mm Nikon film camera shooting 400 ISO color negative film against a Nikon D800, especially when shooting low-light scenes.
