Film Theatre Experience

Last night I had the privilege of watching the movie "Elf", in a sold out movie theatre
that seats 2500 people. This is what the movie experience is all about-the movie & the audience reaction to the movie. You just can't get that experience in most theatres these days, they are
too small, and you definately can't get it at home with your 50'' plasma. When I was a teenager
going to movies, the theatres were large, so the audience reaction was part of the show. I've
missed that for a time-but last night I got to experience that one more time-It was great!!!!

I'm an avid movie goer to all of the revival theaters in the Los Angeles area. American Cinematheque, which runs the Aero Theatre in Santa Monica and Grauman's Egyptian Theater in Hollywood has screenings every week and weekend. I just recently saw "Ben-Hur" for the first time on the big screen. It was an amazing experience. I've seen 2001: A Space Odyssey there, Vertigo, The Swimmer, The Godfather. I saw Pandora's Box at the Silent Movie Theatre in West Hollywood with a live orchestra playing. Wargames, Disco Godfather, and The Third Man at the New Beverly Cinema in West Hollywood. It's the only way to really experience these movies. I saw "It Happened One Night" at the Aero, and everybody in the audience was laughing and cheering. People are not afraid to express their emotions in these theaters. They scream, laugh, cry, etc. Along with that, the Los Angeles Conservancy opens the doors to a few movie palaces in downtown LA, so you not only get the theater experience of the film being shown, but the experience of the grandeur of the theater itself.
