Film Schools?

The thoughts of an old guy who's been down this road before... Just about anybody can purchase a camera & computer, and shoot and edit a movie. The times and technology have changed to the point now that little old ladies to 12 year old school boys can shoot their own film without the need of a film school to achieve acceptable results. If it were me, knowing what I know now... Forget film school, and get a degree that will be relivent in any field you might choose to work in the future. Gain your knowledge of the industry and gather the contacts you need by working part time at a production house while earning your business degree in school. You might, or might not be surprised by the number of people trying to make a go at it in the industry, who know frame rates, f-stops, the right lens to use for a shot, but have no clue when it comes to contracts, rental rates, insurance, scheduling, how much to charge. The basics of running a successful business. Bottom line... You can likely have any of your film related questions answered on-line for free, while if you want a viable degree worth an extra $million or so over the course of your lifetime, it will need to be earned.

Good Luck!

Dave
