Film School

So I was just curious, just for kicks, who here is currently a film school student. Or who already has their degree. And if so, what school.
I'm a film major, from Biola University.

Not film, but TV school...

Not film, but TV school...

Hi:

I've been an engineer for a long time, but a few years back I decided to "formalize" my video hobby and started attending a small, local institution (CCAT, which in Spanish stands for College of the Arts and Sciences of Television) that specializes in TV careers. These are TV directing, production, lighting and camera work, editing and sound engineering; I major in TV Directing. It is more of a vocational school in that the highest degree offered is an associate degree, but that's fine for me as I didn't want to go back to the academic rigor of my old college days; I do this for fun.

I guess the main difference between TV school and film school is that we never use photographic film, only videotape. Other than that, I reckon we learn the same principles and techniques in the above disciplines.

Just my $0.02...

Regards,

Film undergrad degree from California State University at Northridge (CSUN), and Digital Imaging and Design Masters Degree from NYU.

But, I really want to be a dentist...

Film/Art Media degree (minor in Medieval/Renaissance European History) from Syracuse University, Syracuse, New York.

Does the program at Biola focus on the technical/artistic aspects of film work, or on the particular political/religious sort of stuff that's important at Biola?

the University of Pittsburgh sends all their film students to a media resource center called "Pittsburgh Filmmakers". i bypassed the University and applied directly to PF. was able to complete four years worth of classes in just over two. then, i moved to LA. that was nearly 10 years ago.

Yep I was looking at Biola...but just 2 weeks ago I started my own production company with a partner so Idk if I'll ever be going. Thats where I want to go if none of this works out however...

One semester left of my Bachelor of Creative Arts degree at Melbourne University, majoring in Film/TV Production and Creative Writing.

And yes, the degree is as useless and wanky as it sounds.

I never attended RTF (radio/tv/film) at UT Austin but I highly recommend the program. I worked with friends on almost 50 film projects and a hundred other non-assigned projects just because so many willing bodies and minds are itching to film there.

We had a club that held its own 48 hour, two week, and two hour challenges several times a semester.

You're smarter than me. I actually finished a Film/Art Media BFA, before getting down to the real work...should have/could have started my professional career four years earlier.

I'm a film major at Emerson College in Boston. Loving it so far.

I'm thinking of applying to it this September. I'm entering my senior year of high school and I was thinking of a few early applications.

How was the difficulty of being admitted? What do they look more for? Grades or portfolio?
