Question, do all of you indie filmmakers get film permits and insurance? Im curious as i too am going to take the ole dvx out and shoot a horror film.

Would love to hear your thoughts. Also I anyone can recomment an insurer as well. Thanks ;D

Re: Film permit and insurance

If you want to be legit and don't want people kicking you out of places or hassling you, you definitely need a permit. Based on how big your film set is you'll be able to tell whether or not you're going to need a permit. Shooting on private property with the owner's permission does not require a permit. Their insurance is held liable though if anything goes wrong.

If shooting in a public place owned by the municipality such as a street, you're going to need to get insurance. You can't actually get the permit without insurance. Not sure who you can go to to get insured. I'm thinking asking your city municipality would be a good idea...
