Film Obsessions.

I guess there must be other people out there who have certain film obsessions - you know, the films for which you know the whole script from memory.

Mine are:

Where Eagles Dare - My brother and I used to watch this almost every day as kids. Videos were rarer in those days and it was the only one we had. Richard Burton and Clint Eastwood make the ultimate kick-ass team.

Commando - Possibly the greatest comedy ever made - has me in stitches every time. God, when he threw the drain pipe through that guy, I could have died!

Yeah, well the next time your planning one of your little operations, leave me out of it!

You're here because your and American!

I like the bit where they blow up the bridge and the car tyre rolls down the bank on the left.

City Slickers! When I was having my mid-life crisis, I watched it every other week to get over it

Amadeus! I had mentioned that one before many times. Not only it's a great movie, but it was shot in Prague when I was a student, I was in the extras, and it brings back many memories.

Commando is hilarious! I remember most of it. Arnold must take out 800 guys over the course of that movie. I love when he jumps from a airborne jet, LANDS ON HIS FEET, and then goes about his business. And then there's the mall scene when he shrugs off about a dozen LAPD and then proceeds to swing Tarzan-style across the food court. Classic.

I guess most of my movie quoting has derived from Monty Python (especially Holy Grail and Life of Brian) and the original Star Wars trilogy.

I have Ghostbusters, Star Wars, Empire, Jedi, and Blade Runner memorized. I probably know those well enough to perform each one as an interpretive dance if required.

Other movies that I almost have comitted to memory are too numerous to name. One time a friend of mine and I have a two hour conversation using nothing but movie quotes ... we were really bored.

I believe I can recite "History Of The World Part 1" word for word. Those late nights of watching it on HBO in the 80's when my parents were asleep have warped my brain.

You don't need a leader! You are all different! You are all individuals!

CROWD
Yes, master! We are all different!

MAN IN CROWD
I am not!

Well - I know it's not quoted 'precisely', but that's gotta be THE MOST favorite scene of all movies for me. I can't believe I forgot to mention Life of Brian in first place!

Monty Python and the Holy Grail (ok anything Monty Python)
Blazing Saddles
National Lampoon's Vacation
Breakfast Club
ET
Star Wars Trilogy
Raiders of the Lost Ark

Have I shown my age yet?

Blazing Saddles? Hell yeah! I love that movie.
While we're on a Mel Brooks kick, Young Frankenstein is another one that I quote endlessly.

- Airplane
- The Thing
- Halloween

The list goes on, but I have to finish my zombie movie...

"Reality Bites" - Ben stiller, Ethan Hawke, Winona Ryder, etc.

It might be the Gen X thing or the fact it was shot in my hometown of Houston. Either way it's a pretty good flick, with some great music, and some great lines.
