This isn't a "How do you get video to look like film" question. I'm shooting 24p w/ my DVX...
I'm working on a project which seeks to emulate the mediocre-at-best film quality of kung fu films from the 70's.
After the proper color correction, addition of subtle noise/grain, etc, it looks pretty decent. However, there's one problem.
When I add the "Film Effects" filter with Vegas, everything looks pretty good, save for the obnoxious verticle "scratch" lines that run across the screen the entire time. I am able to control every single other aspect; dust, jitter, flicker, hair, etc, and can vary these aspects via key framing to achieve a fairly convincing look. However, it just feels as though it's all flushed down the toilet when I have 4 or 5 verticle "scratches" that STAY up onscreen the entire time. It's quite distracting.
Does anyone know how to get these "scratches" under control?
Here's a video to show what I'm talking about:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u2xNnRt62oY (that's not part of the actual project. just a random bit of footage to which I added the effects in question).
