Hey y'all, I had a 16mm short that could only be telecined back to Betacam SP for cost reasons. So now I have it in a 60i uncompressed format, what's the best way to get it back to a 24p DVD without losing too much quality? Thanks in advance.

Well the question is when it was telecined they had to put a pull down on it. What kind of pull donw did they put on it? 3:2 2:3:3:2 ect. Once you figured that out then you would just use Cinama Tools to reverse Telecine the footage and give you footage conformed to 23.98

Any telecined film with be 2:3 pulldown unless you specifically ask not to. (Common when doing VFX work where the pulldown can be added later)
The real question is how to import it into the computer with the best quality.
You can get a capture card to degitize with higher quality than DV but may not be worth the cost to you. Assumes you have Beta Deck.
You coudl have a video post house transfer it to QuickTime on a Firewire drive.
You could feed the video into analog input on video camera. From here it's digitzed in the camera to DV and then through the firewire port. Need Beta deck for this.

Thanks for the replies! It's actually digitzied onto my comp, 5GB 4:2:2 uncompressed MOV file. So I can just use Cinematools to reverse the pulldown, and have full res (whatever res Betacam runs at) 24p footage? Awesome if so!
