Files Mysteriously missing...

I keep my finished projects on my external HD and have them also burned to DVD as well for archiving. Today I wanted to play a few finished videos that were on my HD and I got this thing that said: Sequence 1-Fin-00000099 cannot be found. Without this file, the movie will not play properly.

Nothing was deleted. I cannot recall if I made the video in question a self contained movie file though which might have something to do with it. But I noticed at least 3 of my finished projects will not play now because of this same sort of message I am getting.

A search of my entire FCP HD and MAC HD came up empty handed for those files.
 
Then it sounds like you exported a REFERENCE movie, and not a self contained Quicktime movie. Reference movies look to existing media, rather than contain the media. So if you put the reference file on another computer it no longer see the files it needs to reference to play back.
 
Ahhhhhh Ok..yup I am pretty positive that is exactly what I did then! I usually make my files self contained but I didn't for those 2 projects.
