Question: Can I use a USB cable to do my video/audio file transfers or should I be using a firewire? Here's the situation:
I have 24PN footage shot with my HVX200AP. I downloded it to a portable 7200 SATA, hard drive in the field (via the 1394 host setting) I have transferred this to my main 1TB hard drive, for editing with Premiere Pro CS4. I transferred the footage using a USB cable to through my computer. All of the footage looks great: video, audio works great. I have not yet finished the project or burned it to DVD. I have recently become concerned that I should be using a Firewire cable to do all of my file transfers. So I purchased a Express card with fire wire ports and transfered a file to my main drive. The FW footage looks the same on the monitors in PP as the USB. The Firewire transfer took 3 1/2 hours though. Via USB it took only 25 min, about the same time it took to transfer the original footage from the camera/P2 to my field hard drive. (FW transfer files and USB transferred files are exactly the same size) Does anyone have a definative answer to this? (Any senior members have any reccomendations on this?)
Thanks, Palind
