File sharing

Hey guys,

I have two editors working on separate computers, both running Final Cut Pro. How can I setup great file sharing between them? Do I need them working off the same hard drive, or can I do this via firewire?

Best way is a network raid with fibre channels. But that might be out of budget for just 2 editors needing to share. But really its the best way to go for shared storage. If you can budget it, a full on XSan Raid Server is brilliant. And good ability for expanding as your company grows.

If you need to go budget, well hard drive space is cheap man. Buy a pair of TB hard drives (G-Raid, WD, whatever), have the media on both and voila. Its not shared persay, but can allow both to cut from the same media, on separate computers, at the same time. And its a heck of a lot cheaper than buying and installing a network solution. In that case then, if you have any kind of network infrastructure (a router) you can have them share files and then be able to quickly snag each other's project files (if that is required).

cheers.
