When working in After Effects with clips off a Final Cut timeline, what's the best way (compression setting) for the editor to export the files for you to use in After Effects and then for you to give back to the editor?

no compression. Though you my actually have to go upstream from the editor to get the cleanest files.. they'll often do an offline edit with compressed footage in the NLE
then online or redigitize and assemble an uncompressed version once they have a
fine cut.

Automatic Duck is made exactly for this. Keep the original media and reconstruct the cuts in AE for finishing.

Use a QT reference in the composition and export as an uncompressed .mov file.
