I get this message suddenly:
"File Error: 1 file(s) recognized, 0 access denied , 1 unknow" when importing into FCP.

I tried a mov (DVPAL) which was created on the same machine a day earlier, I tried JPG, I tried AIFF, and even when I use Log and transfer I can choose files and watch them, but when I add them to the queue they don´t get imported after the process.

Didn´t really do anything to the machine since working in FCP. Only emtied the Trash and shut down. Then the next day restarted machine and boom it behaved weird.

Any ideas?

Do a get info on the file.
check the kind, size, and permissions.

If the file is really small you made a reference movie,
then deleted one of the referenced files. I don't
remember the exact error msg I got.

Have you restarted since then?
How are you importing the files? CMD-I? Dragging into the Browser in FCP from the Finder? Do I understand correctly that you are unable to get any files at all to import?
You could try backing up your preferences, then trashing them.

I did restart. I tried different versions of importing: via Log and Transfer, via CMD-I and via dragging. None worked on no filetype or rez (AIFF, MOV, JPG).
I will dump preferences and if that doesn´t help probably re-install FCP.

EDIT: I also need to add: tried to import from an external disk.....all with the same result.
I also deleted my ID and re-registered my serial. No help. I am afraid I need to set up my whole Macbook OSX, if nobody knows a solution. The question is: why, how can it be avoided?

new update: I deleted all cache files, then I moved the FCP.app into the trash. Rebooted and then dragged the FCP.app back into the Applications folder. Voila. It works again. I don´t know it if was the cache (waveforms etc) or the move to the trash. Some connections got cut and now it works again. Weird, but thank god I don´t need a re-install.

thanks to all that tried to help.
