Fiilex M1

used one at a shoot yesterday....they are great, great color, great throw, very nice soft light and quite a bit of punch with the fresnel attachment.....the iOS app is not really yet (but will be when they ship i guess) but is really pretty amazing to control single or groups with options to save whole light setups incl diagrams....it looks amazing....
the M1 is pretty powerful but not quite as powerful as the Q1000 but that really is a totally different light....
the built and quality and handling are first rate....
i did not have any LED panels there to compare directly bu the last ones i tried were the aputure LS1, which are pretty great but the M1 are in a different class....much more powerful, much more pleasing light (without the fresnel).....but of course the LS1 can run off batteries.....i guess you can get a battery option for the M1 but it is not as easy as popping on a V mount....
i have no affiliation with fiilex, i used to have the P360, which i thought were great but a little lacking in power for that kind of single head....
the best way to describe the M1 is: it is 4 P360ex in one box with more controls and a nice diffuser in the front but you still never feel like there are 4 sources behind the pane....
i would highly recommend to check it out when you get a chance...

I think it looks awesome. Just bought a Softpanels and am looking at the Aputure 120t bi-colors as well but this light could be great w/the fresnel attachment!

Just wish it had a simpler battery solution than the power stations. After you buy the station and 4 V-mount bricks, you're looking at $4k+ just to power it via battery. Yikes!

i think some thing like the Goalzero Yeti 400 would be a better battery solution

Can the Yeti power 300w?!
the 400 can and the 1250 can....it is of course a different solution (you can't just pop on another V mount) and the question is how long the light will run on one but i don't see a reason why it won't....it will run microwaves and refrigerators.....you can also hook up a chain of yetis.....i have the 1250 and it will run anything but it is big and heavy....thinking of getting the smaller 400 to run a light like the M1 or Q1000 for an hour or two, which is all i need....

I'm looking forward to test it . Seems in a similar class as the smaller Nilas and AAdyn but with actual TLCI measurements, can't believe that those 2 companies haven't submitted to be measured yet, something to hide?

The M1 requires 48v. Yeti 400 has 12v out.
hmmm....check with goalzero....their website says 12V but it says the same for the 1250 and i know that that will run the M1....both have inverters, not sure if the 400 has a pure sine (the 1250 does) ....after reading over the yeti specs it does say that longer draws over 300W might cause a problem with the inverter.(overheating?)...i believe the M1 at full power runs 320W....

I might. Need to get the M1 in to test it first and then I'll decide. The Hive Wasp is also intriguing, though a bit pricier but has high color accuracy and is super powerful.

I emailed Fiilex about battery power and they rec'd Block battery and Blueshape as the only two companies that had ready-to-go power solutions for the M1. I'll email them and ask about the Yeti also.

i had the same answer.....the yeti is not a industry known item....both goal zero and fiilex will answer phones btw:)

Finally got to look at a unit yesterday. It's nice and punchy, but seriously they want 400$ for a set of barndoors!? Most of the Fiilex accessories are at crazy pricing, like beyond Arri. Too bad .
