how would you film/direct/act a fighting scene to look as real as possible while dealing little to no damage to the victim? hitting, falling, throwing, blocking, etc.
A friend-of-a-friend posted his How-to video here.
There are several videos in the series, so if you type in "How to Stage a Hollywood Style Fight" in Monkeysee, all the videos should come up.

*edit: nevermind. I guess all the videos come up when you click the link.
there's one trick that i want to know, dont know if it's a trick or not. when somebody falls to the floor after being hit up, how do i film that to look like he really did fall to the floor if he doesnt actually fall on the floor, but on something soft instead.
I think you film the fall separate and be inches from the ground. So lets say you film the hit from a high angle and the opponent actually falls onto a mat on the ground, then you film the fall from inches from the ground, then make the cut as if they actually fall from the hit onto the ground.
Hire a stunt team... they are trained professionals and can fall for real without hurting themselves... I watched a Jackie Chan dvd and his stunt team was practicing hard on those falls, they not just fall, they fall in style and have to look painful
Yes vnguyen972 is right if you have the budget for it. I was a professional b boy and we even learned over the years how to fall in style when messing up during a set.
A big group of stuntmen that are replacing the older professionals, are the EVO kids (freestyle walking and there's another name for it, but it's in spanish and I can't remember). They flip off walls, jump from really large building to buildings, and know how to stage fight. Maybe try looking for someone like that where you live, might get lucky.
