Fig Rig vs DV Multi Rig vs ???

Once my financial aid gets here I'm going to pick up some type of run and gun camera support. I shot a concert using a buddies Fig Rig & DVX100, and really liked it, but the DV Multi Rig looks pretty killer. Both seem very pricey, and as a pretty handy guy I feel like I could build a lot of stuff for $300 to $500. I was hoping for a few opinions from those who own these or similar items.

Also, when you adjust the DV Multi Rig do you need an allen wrench? I thought I read somewhere that you don't need any tools, yet the video shows him using a wrench whenever he adjusts it.

I've got a multi-rig and love it. The allen wrench is only used to adjust the tension in the joints. I rarely adjust the tension in the joints, so I would view it as tool-less for the most part. I enjoy it because its a shoulder mount, then its kinda like a fig rig and it just folds up into a nice little package. With the support pod you can wear it for hours with no fatigue. You wont be doing that with a fig rig. Thats my 2 cents.
 
i just ebayd my fig rig for the multi rig pro. best decision i ever made. the more i thought about it the more i asked myself why i even bought the figrig in the first place this just happened so i have only been able to test the multirig around the house but i can say its well worth the money. the spring loaded support pod is great and is what sold it on me not to mention the portability of the entire rig. the pod handles all the weight and does smooth out the shot which is awesome.
ive been able to adjust it without the wrench but i can see where you may need to tighten or loosen the joints at some point :)
 
I have looked into the Multirig Pro and found out it is discontinued. It has been replaced by the Multirig Pro HD ($600) which i have been told. It is longer then the Multirig Pro. You can view on this site. http://www.dvtec.tv/store
Has anyone used the Multirig Pro HD? I searched ebay for the Multirig Pro but came up empty. Does anyone know where you ca still buy the Multirig Pro?

I see a DV Rig Pro HD, but no Multi Rig Pro HD. The DV Rig looks like your standard shoulder mount, which I could easily make for less then $100 in parts. What I dig about the Multi rig is how adjustable it is, and then it folds up into a tiny package. If they discontinued it that would be a bummer.
