Fig Rig + Marshall + 2 Remotes + Quickbase + Stand

I also purchased that when I first got my Fig Rig, however it has limitations. That is the ONLY way to mount the Fig Rig from Bogen. You MUST unlock it to remove it from the tripod and you MUST carry your tripod with you if you want to use this to set it down. If that works for you that's great. however it quite flimsy, musst be exactly mounted on the dead center bottom and you loose the rubber guy on the bottom as well. It also ads weight to the unit and is over all, well, ugly.

Frustrated myself with this is one of the MANY reasons I invented the Quick-Base, which soon you'll be able to mount on any tripod pan and tilt keep rolling and remove the Fig Rig from the base while the base stays on the tripod and you follow your talent while keep shooting.

Unforturnatly the $55 clamp is just that, a clamp.

Feel free and contact me if your interested in a purchase or info.

I know the stand, it is great, but way too expensive $200 and stand makes it a $300+ setup... the clamp is $60 so I went that way... maybe later on if the stand gets cheaper or I have the $ to spare I'll still have the clamp for mounting of a monitor... there is also the little stand that plugs right into the clamp with the $16 C-stand attachment and it is only $21... once again, you are using the flimsier clamp but all three pieces put together are still a third of the cost... by the way, the rubber pad in the bottom can be preserved if you mount it slightly tilted as I did on the pictures
is there any chance in the price of the stand dropping? I really want one, but not for a while... if it was only twice the cost of this setup then there is no way I'd consider anything else, you could sell a ton of these! It also kills me to have to spend the same exact amount than the fig rig costed me for the stand to hold it

About the controller, I think I am not going to return my rocker because it does work very well for zooming on the right, and I'll get the remote splitter and the $250 rocker for the right side...

Sweet Rigs!

Sweet Rigs!

The Fig Rig setups are also "beefy" enough to handle a larger LCD such as the Panasonic BT-LH900 (if you have the $ for one).

Besides that, you guys have some sweet rigs!

Also, I am trying to fig-ure out where to mount my Varizoom...I got the one with the Rocker zoom controller and now I am
considering returning it to exchange it for the throttle controller

Yeah, I originally had the rocker zoom which didn't mount very well on the Fig Rig. I since got the throttle which is much better!

BTW, nice setup overall, bro!

I think my Quickbase was around $175 (or less) when I purchased it at the DV Expo in November. The actual stand was only about $80. Add a few more dollars for Bongo ties. And then like $40 for the sandbag. I haven't even mentioned the remote(s).

I think if you seriously get into the Fig Rig, the added expenses is not that much money. Of course, this is all relative. But, I highly recommend investing into it if at all possible. I'm already waiting for the tripod plate adapter when Joe has it ready!

Thanks! :)

I hear you all regarding the price of products and that is exactly why I am creating a line of DV products that actually work and are affordable. Keep in mind that most camera support equipment is usually more then the camera itself. Real Stedicam rigs are in the $100,000 range and that is for real. To be able to have a complete camera stablizer rig for under $500 is a steal. You can purchase the flimsy little tripod stix and adapter from Bogen however I know for a fact by meeting with them at the DV Expo that they are aware the Fig Rig accessories are not up to snuff and were quite amazed with my design.

USLatinContent and or anyone else are welcome to contact me and purchase directly from me if you dont want to purchase from EVS or Samy's Camera. I may be able to put one in your hands for much less then you think. Once you have one you will wonder how you lived with out it.

I'm here to listen to your thoughts and try and solve serious issues from serious users like myself and develope real working products for you. I am currently working on a solution for the tripod adapter and will soon be available when I have figured it out. I am also working on other new and very cool things for miniDV.

Keep it tuned to www.sinivision.com for info and feel free to contact me anytime.

We are likely going to have a small run on the adapter for those of you who already have the QB-01 however will incorporate a fixed mount as well as keeping the pin reciever on the next production run, called the Quick-Base Univesal QB-02 with new cool features however functions the same as the QB-01.

DV magazine soon to have a full review in the upcoming month or so.

Cool! When might that initial production run begin? And how much $$$? I live in the neighborhood and can swing by to pick up anytime. :)

any pictures of it u could share? pricing?

also, I have the Varizoom rocker figured out so I can mount it on the Fig... to operate "pushing up" on the rig just mount it on the foam, this will limit the lenght of foam you can use but my non-tiny hands find it to be just enough... to operate "pulling up" on the rig just mount it past the cap on the top edge of the foam far enough so it won't bug... this works perfectly.... and the cap helps as a stopper that hooks into my middle finger while I still have my pinkie and ring finger on the foam...

Thank you DC for recommending "hanging" my rig, it is a nice way to operate... wish I had played with it more though...

I dont have photos to share other then what's on the website, http://www.sinivision.com and click on products to see the Quick-Base site as well as dealers and some photos from the DV Expo.

A review in DV Magazine to be released sometime in May however the new and improved Quick-Base Universal should be out before that.

USLatinContent, I'm not sure what your description refers to however would like to see photos of it if you can provide them. Also your more then welcome to contact me for a demo of my products for you to see.

Thanks

Hi Joe,

Sounds good. Would you please clarify the similarities and differences between the QB-01 and the QB-02 (Quick-Base Universal)? What is the "pin receiver?"

Thanks!

The main difference between the QB-01 and the QBU-02 is the QBU-02 will have a plate from the center pin to the rear of the unit which will have about 5 different mounting locations for your quick release plate for whatever type of fluid head you have. This makes for a more stable and flud motion you're accustomed to when shooting with a tripod yet comfortable enough using your Fig Rig with the QBU-02.

Mole-Richardson has been added as a new dealer for our groundbreaking and cool camera support equipment.

Can I just buy an adaptor plate that will essentially convert my QB-01 to a QBU-02? If so, when and how much?

Yes you can however I'm still working out how it will attach and how much I'll have to charge for them. It will look much like the photo you see here with a little bit of a difference where it mounts. Stay tuned my friend.

Thanks, Joe. I will.

Another thought . . . any chance I could trade in my QB-01 and upgrade to a QBU-02 for an attractive price?
