FIG RIG camera support system

Has anyone here used one of these? If so can you comment on whether or not you are happy with it and if it justifies the price? Thanks, DD

I love it. The rig with just the camera is great. Not very heavy, but it does take it's toll after time. I've shot continuously for over an hour and lived to tell about it. The rig with a large matte box, 7" monitor and battery is a bit much in long stretches.

As for the stability it offers, I got the fig at the same time as the 100b and was used to only use the cam when attached to the rig. About a week ago I took the camera only to get some footage and I was a mess. Shaky.... just very unsteady.

All in all, I'm glad I purchased one.

Maybe. I'm too busy working to notice or let it bother me, though. I also have to say that the DVX with a large matter box w/ flags and the 7" monitor behind it looks like an incredible rig. It's almost film camera impressive. So I think the initial bystander thoughts of "hey, that guy's holding a stearing wheel" quickly fade to "wow. nice camera.".

I've used it. It takes a bit of practice, but you can get some pretty good results. Also, there are alot of positions you can put it in to alleviate some of the stress from your arms.

hows the rig when you need to adjust focus especially on the 100/100a as they dont have lanc support for focus. is it still holdable one handed??

this works with a B and hvx only. for the 100 i think the multi rig with the support will be better. lot more options for less $$

I have a DVX100 (not a, not b) with a figrig - how can I get focus control?

By the way - I shot a video yesterday with it - drove to the shoot and shot with it right out of the box.. It really does smooth things down a bit. Have to watch how you walk though - it can transmit. I will make a link to the shoot I shot for everyone to see.

I encourage everyone to go to Manfrotto's site and download/watch the inventors video on the site.. this will give you some ideas on using it.

Also.. there are holes in the shaft on either side of the mounted camera.. get a professional wide camera strap and attach it - put it behind your neck and viola - your hands can be free when ever u need a break.. you can also push out with your arms and the tension in the strap can smooth things out a bit as well.

a few times and have never used it again for a good reason.
It does nothing to improve the smootheness of your shot. I compared footage of my shots with the figrig and without and noticed almost no difference in smoothness.

It's way overpriced and not worth it.

It's literally a wheel, with pads, nothing else.

hmm.. not sure why you say that.. Maybe you did not take the time to use it..
Click on my website and download the 'wedding thank you' under films .. and it certainly does not look handheld.. (usual shakiness that comes with handheld) i think it is in between handheld and steadycam.

So i read this thread and zoom over to EVS. They have the Sini on display. I wanted to run in, buy one and leave. Took 10 minutes before anyone could find any info on it. $200!!!

Say it aint so. Say that includes the stand and that we foot have to buy both pieces. I have C stands coming out my yin yang. I just need a fig stand.

Oh. And a two week wait before EVS stocks them. Is it possible for a local to get one this weekend?

thanks. looks like a gone product.

Well, I have to say that I had my hands on the product, and it's nice, but I said to myself, "If this thing is more than $60, it's overpriced." Dont get me wrong. Its nice. Id like one. But having spent under $200 on high quality stands with more steel, it just wont happen.

To others reading, though, it it a well made product that would certainly be useful.

I wish you the best.
