Fifth Element 2.

The Fifth Element was absolutely amazing and still is. If a sequel ever happened (yes, quite unnecessary but hypothetically. Lets move on), what would you speculate the story would be like?

I'd speculate that it would have a beginning, middle, and end; would be shot digitally; use a lot of green screen; be shot in 3D and released both 3D and conventional 2D; and would ultimately come out on DVD, Blu-Ray, Pay TV, and Streaming.

Beyond that... I have no idea.

There won't be a sequel in my opinion. The whole plot revolved around evil coming back every 5000 years or so. They defeated it in The 5th Element in the 2200's, so I don't think a particular plot worth visiting could be developed until Leelo can fight in another 5,000 years, which would be in 7200's. What the hell would that universe look like? Food for thought: 5,000 years ago from today was around the time they think Stonehenge was built. I can't imaging what the next 300 years will have, no less another 5,000. Chances are the human race will have destroyed itself by then. Any other 5th Element plot would not involve the 5th elements earthly purpose, thus what good is that film? Then again it might be like 'SuperSizeMe' for the year 3000.

I think a sequel could work. Milla still looks sexy, but Bruce Willis is getting up there in age. Then again, Connery came back and did a Bond film (unofficially at least) about a decade after Roger Moore took over the womanizing and martini drinking secret agenting. I think for a 5th Element sequel, maybe have some sort of aliens invading other human colonies and worlds, making their way towards Earth. Korben Dallas and Leelo have to recapture the other four elements that have been scattered about so that no one could use them for evil. Maybe these marauding aliens are also after the 'elements' too?

Then at the end have Korben and Leelo cryogenically frozen or put into some sort of suspended animation after they save the universe again. They'd wake up in the year 7200 for a third film, just in time to face the evil force from the first film that has returned. So there you have a trilogy. The second film could be more of a space opera where they go to lots of different places, more of an adventure feel. The third one would then return to the style of the first one, with the apocalyptic shadow of evil hanging over everything. Maybe the evil comes back in a different and more powerful form this time, since it was defeated and it figures it might as well adapt, just in case?

Perhaps civilization has destroyed itself, but then rebuilt itself during this span of 5,000 years? I mean, look at how much of our present day civilization mirrors that of ancient Rome and Greece for instance. Maybe we'd re-invent a lot of similar technology and forms of governance after we destroyed ourselves and rebuilt a new civilization? It is an interesting concept that hasn't appeared much in sci-fi movies, but has been around in sci-fi literature for awhile. Or maybe civilization is back to a primitive state when Korben and Leelo return to fight evil in the third film? Or how about a race of aliens come and act as gods or overlords to the remnants of humanity after an Earthly apocalypse occurs between films two and three? Perhaps they'd be like Gary Oldman's character (Zorg), and would give into evil and assist it instead of trying to fight it, or maybe they think this evil power is a god of some sort? That would be interesting, humans believing some seemingly well meaning aliens are gods, then these advanced aliens posing as gods then fearing an even more powerful force that appears god-like to them.

So we'd have a trilogy here:

1) The Fifth Element

2) The Scattered Elements

3) The Final Element

I'm thinking the Final Element is sacrifice. At the climax, Leelo or Korben Dallas has to sacrifice their own life/soul to this source of evil to stop it. Either that or Chris Tucker's character Ruby Rod does a crazy-funky dance number that causes the evil planet to explode.

It is too bad that one of the major inspirations and concept designer for The Fifth Element, Jean "Moebius" Giraud, died recently. Plus, Luc Besson mostly produces films nowadays. I suppose Besson could write and produce and have fellow French filmmaker Jean-Pierre Jeunet direct part two, and maybe that Tarsem guy direct the third one. That could be interesting.

Then again it might be like 'SuperSizeMe' for the year 3000.

I'd be curious to see what a far future version of Chipotle, Starbucks, or Panda Express would look like. Maybe we'll get a Demolition Man sequel to show us some of that?

It would probably be called the sixth element and go straight to BluRay. Probably be an unknown cast, have lost of violence and nudity, and a plot exactly the same as the original. Maybe I'm just a pessimist.

If they were to do anything with the title, it would probably be a remake. I don't think 15 years is too soon for Hollywood. Look at Spiderman.

Unfortunately, you're probably right Jon.

The Sixth Element makes me think that Bruce Willis and Haley Joel Osment are going to be in another film together. Maybe M. Night could direct the sequel to The Fifth Element?

Oooooh, the Sixth Element! That would be an incredible disaster!

If someone would just edit Chris Tucker out of the first film I'd watch it again. Ending was kind of empty anyway, but Tucker was way, way, way too much.

Tucker's Ruby Rod is not that far fetched of a future celebrity/pop star/talk show host/whatever-the-hell he was in 5th Element. Not after seeing some of the stuff Lady Gaga wears.

The Fifth Element was made by a genius at the top of his game. There are a lot of movies I'd like to see a remake of, but I can only imagine that this would be a huge let down. I'd love to be wrong though.

Agreed.

Lol. Yes, he's over-the-top annoying... but he evokes such a hilarious reaction from the general audience. He's hilarious and he served his purpose in this movie.

 I'd watch it! Perhaps you should pitch it to the producers of the original? Lol.

If the purpose was to never make me want to watch the movie again, then yes, he served his purpose...If there's a hell, it's me having to watch his performance over and over again with my eyelids stitched open.

See, that's what I mean. That animosity you feel for his character, that's one of the reasons he was made too so you can relate to Dallas' feelings initially. Thereby, connecting more with the main character. Plus, the movie wasn't meant to be taken too seriously. It's not like a Nolan film (which are amazing), but by the overall tone of this movie, the whackiness, the colorfulness, the humor... it's just fun to watch, but yet it's very powerful -- especially in those tender moments. That's the genius of it. I think it's not often those those elements can mesh well (like Transformers 3...). That's just me, though.

I don't care...I HATE, HATE, HATE, HATE everything about it. Saying it's supposed to be annoying doesn't make it less annoying. To me, that's like saying, well the movie was supposed to be terrible, so it's good that it's terrible. It's still terrible. It's not fun for me in the least. His performance is the equivalent of nails on a chalkboard. It creates an involuntary physical reaction...I've never been a fan of the entire movie actually, and it's one of the many reasons, but I know I'm in the minority. I find too much of it over the top in an off-putting manner. I enjoy some of the visuals but that's about it, so I'm not eagerly awaiting a sequel.

Stop holding back. Tell us how you really feel.

Hey, what did you think of Superbabies: Baby Geniuses 2?!

LOL...Would you believe I once had to cut a trailer for that! I had to watch the film over...and over...and over...So when I talk about what hell must be like, I speak from experience.

Oh, 5th element. What time is it again?
Here's a picker-uppper. And btw, she still looks great today.

Okay, okay, your a Canuck now. Grab a stick and a puck, a couple beers and go over and smash out the window in your neighbours car. Get it out of your system man. Your a canuck now for gods sake.

Not ashamed to admit it.........I'd go see the sequel. Out of curiosity. I liked the Fifth Element.

Would probably be disappointed with the result, but.......hey, I watched every "Die Hard" too. Bruce may be getting up in age, but I still like his delivery for the characters he plays. As an actor, he has staying power. Only a couple of other actors are in that category for me.
