Field Monitor questions....

Hi guys,

some quick questions (hopefully)

could I use an SD monitor with the HVX in the field , and if so is it best to get an onboard monitor or a standalone monitor-

also as far as post production goes- I know you can hook the ACD's with an hdlink but is this picture going to acurately represent what the average ntsc television will display? I just want to be able to edit my work and see what it will look like as i'm doing it.

Thanks,

Justin Stanley

The HVX will give you an SD output, but I wouldnt expect it to be of much use. Definately not for focus or if its a cheap monitor for color but it will give you an image. Of course so will that lcd that flips out on the side. Thats about what you can expect for quality which depending on what your doing might be enough.
As far as the "average ntsc television" displays. Go to Best Buy and look around. Let me know what your definition of average is, and thats before people get them home and "tweak" them. Do yourself a favor and get a good monitor and calibrate it the bast you can to ideal broadcast standards. Forget about trying to make it look good to the average, make the guy who knows what he's doing impressed.
