Field monitor Ikan choices for hvx200(orginal) VX7i vs VX9e

I went with the VX7i Deluxe kit from B&H. The unit will not work with the AC adapter and the battery cracked when removing it from the unit. I am getting a replacement shipped. Did I just have bad luck or are the iKan monitors build quality not the greatest?
Hoping round 2 goes better

ikan stuff nearly ALL comes from china. and ive never cared for the build quality of external housings of their mid to lower priced monitors.
the upside is when they work they work well. and its been my experience that they ALWAYS stand behind their products should something fail.
