When you're wrong, your're wrong. That is not a personal attack, just the facts.

Y.

No personal attacks? Here's quick sampling:

Your thoughts are indeed in a vacuum

You know nothing about how actors work - Esp a real actor like Duvall.

So maybe you're just a lousy director and assume everyone else is too.

Saying that a director doesn't have to have any talent is a blatantly ignorant statement.

how could brianluce understand the skill it requires to speak an actor's language and to guide their performance, if he doesn't have the required knowledge to see that these skills (or talents) even exist.

the scope of everything from concept to your relationship with your actors is limited.

You guys are lucky I've had Tony Robbins Self Esteem Training.

I agree. but i think the nature of this discussion kind of lumps the director, writer and producer into the same identity --> the filmmaker, or auteur. An auteur with no talent will not go too far. A director with little talent but a spider web of connections, might get a chance to put his name on something worth while.

And let's not forget, some people do see it my way.

ps Chromeboy, the superbowl tickets were fedexed a few hours ago. Enjoy!

A director with little talent that would put his name on something worthwhile ?

Wrong

Name one.

Give us an example of this theory. Better yet, go make a short film.

If you have never done it, then you obviously have zero idea on what is involved.

======================================================

Do you even comprehend what the director does ? Or has this become a pissing contest for you ?

Take the greatest scenes ever shot in film and deny it is the genius of that autuer ?

The director takes simple written words and decides where it goes, what it looks like, how it feels ...

How it is shot; frame for frame, cut for cut, the blocking, the pacing, the style ...

I give up

This thread deserves to be buried
