festival screening: 'Raiders of the Lost Ark: The Adaptation' (this Sat, Seattle)

A quick heads-up about a very rare film. This is the Raiders adaption done by high school kids in the 80s. It's the one that was written up in Vanity Fair a while ago, but if you've never heard of it, check out this article by the Guardian --

Looks like the 9:00 show is sold out, but not the 11:00.

Calling all Raiders fans: I went to this screening the last time it was in town and will never forget it. The movie is hilarious and cannot be released on DVD so this is your only chance to see it. It's a MUST SEE event - the director is funny, too. If you're interested, I'd encourage you to buy your tickets in advance because it's a small theater and it sold out quickly last time.

Subject: Raiders of the Lost Ark: The Adaptation at NWFF this weekend!

Northwest Film Forum presents TWO special encore screenings of RAIDERS OF
THE LOST ARK: THE ADAPTATION, with director Eric Zala in attendance this
weekend.

A one-of-a-kind piece of cinema history, RAIDERS was an attempt by three
kids to make a shot-for-shot remake of their favorite movie, the blockbuster
first installment of the Indiana Jones trilogy. Shooting the film in
sequence (getting dialogue from repeat matinee viewings of the movie and
cribbing set designs from the comic book adaptations), and using ingenious
no-budget special effects, they finished their movie three years later. Most
remarkably of all, the cast and crew went through puberty during the
shooting - all of which is up on screen. The actors and actresses age and
mature before your very eyes as the film progresses!

Don't miss this unique opportunity to see RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK: THE
ADAPTATION, showing as part of Northwest Film Forum's 10th Anniversary
greatest hits series, Super Hits Vol 10. For a full list of films and for

Boy, I wish I could get a nod from Vanity Fair for ripping off my favorite film.

Figh Club: The Adaptation; coming soon.

I know the guys who did this film. It took them years to get it done and they did one hell of a job! We saw it last year and were going to see it again not long ago ... before the hurricanes screwed things up. If any of y'all get a chance to see it, do - it is well worth it.

Oh, and there is now a film in the works about the guys making this film!
