Festival Recommendation - Horror

Hi,

I completed my horror short. Took longer than I thought and much harder.

I submitted to Screamfest and I am looking into other festivals. Does anyone have suggestions for decent and above festivals? I searched online and found various fesitvals but it would be great to get opinions from people who may have some experience with a festival (submitted a film or just attended it and liked it).

You can always try to contact forum member Azmyth. He has done one that got distributed and he's currently finishing his second feature film. Might be able to help you on this.
 
Any in the melies.org (fantastic fest) organization. They're all great. If your short isn't longer than 15 minutes it qualifies for the Méliès award, which is very highly regarded.
Good people run those festivals so they're great for networking etc.
 
I've submitted to numerous horror film festivals, but have found them to be incredibly hard to get into. Some of the ones I recommend are:

Shriekfest - I submitted a film there for this first time this year. Even though it was rejected, they were extremely friendly and supportive.

A Night of Horror International Film Festival - Sydney, Australia. I had a short play there their first year. This festival has grown considerably since then.

Atlanta Horror Film Festival

Rhode Island International Horror Film Festival

International Horror Sci-Fi Film Festival - This festival is part of the Phoenix Film Festival, which is a highly recommended film festival.
