Festival Attendance

I've been searching everywhere for an answer to my question and can't find it anywhere. I'm submitting my short film to a bunch of fests. Some of the festival dates overlap or on days that I know I won't be able to attend. If (and I know its a big "if") I get accepted into multiple fests that overlap or I get into to one where I can't be there, is it a problem not being able to attend the festival? Has anyone experienced this?
- I realize even getting into multiple festivals that overlap is hard in itself and is a "good problem" to have. I just don't want to be blacklisted or shunned for not being able to attend.
Thanks

I've won award from ones I've not been at, so I think you're ok. They need to understand that if they're not paying for you to be there, they can't expect everyone to have the cash to fly and house themselves for something like that.

You wont be any of those things. Remember if you're creating quality content - they'll be happy to show your film if your present or not.

I had a short selected for the Myrtle Beach Intl Fest last week. Unfortunately I got a distal bicep rupture and had to get my arm operated on. No one called ;)

When I work for film festivals we always encourage filmmakers to come and in a lot of cases help out by finding housing and offering suggestions on food and activities. But it's always in the form of a question, and plenty of people who make short films don't end up coming. The only ones who reliably show are first time producers and locals. The features usually show, especially when we make events out of their showing, but that's something very different.

Worry first about getting into the festivals. If you're lucky enough to have a conflict, worry about it then.
