Female-Threaded Tripod Head Adapter?

This last weekend, I was going to use my Sachtler Video 14 II head (recently purchased from a DVXUser) on an inexpensive slider I've rented and used many times - the Shot Shifter from Bright Devices. It comes with a bowl base with a female thread on the slider car to mount your tripod head. I've used a ton of Sachtler tripods on this slider - DV 4, FSB 4, FSB 6, Video 20, Cine 7+7 - but not the Video 14 II (which is an older generation). All of the aforementioned Sachtler heads have a screw protruding from the bowl that the base on the slider accepts.

The Video 14 II, however, is female threaded...

So, I'm wondering if there is some sort of adapter that will mate a female-threaded tripod head with a female-threaded bowl. The Shot Shifter comes with a Mitchell-O'Connor 100mm bowl adapter with screws on both the flat and half-ball sides for mounting the slider to your tripod, but its screws were too long to fit in the slider bowl base.

Does anyone know if an adapter like that exists?

Thanks.

It's definitely higher gauge than 1/4-20.

But my concern would be keeping the connection tight. It just seems like there would be a lot of play, but I will give it a shot.

Thanks.

I bought a 12" piece of allthread, 3/8-16. Fits the head nicely, but I need to know what length to cut it to.

Anyone with a Sachtler head that is male-threaded, can you tell me how long the screw is on the bottom of your tripod head?

Try: Screw it all the way into the head, mark it... then screw the other end all the way into the tripod, mark it... combine the length, subtract a 1/4" or so then cut for the total length... Little trick: You may also want to buy a NUT for the same size so you can run it over the cut end (starting from the un-cut end) to straighten out the threads...

I would say thread should usually be at least 3/8" long to have enough bite to prevent stripping. With a threaded rod, you just want to make sure there isn't a majority screwed into one side - giving you just a little bite on the other. The above method would insure that wouldn't happen.

Since the Video 14 II head is female-threaded, its tie-down cup that connects the head to the tripod is male-threaded, but it seems to be shorter than male-threaded heads with female-threaded tie-downs.

I'm mostly concerned about my tripod head fitting on a couple sliders that I rent all the time. Had a real disappointment a few weeks ago when I rented it without the tripod I normally rent, thinking my Video 14 II would work fine. Then I noticed the head is female-threaded and so is the slider car bowl.

I, too, think 3/8" exposed length will work, I would just rather ask around and get more precise.
