FeedBack

This was my second show that I did sound mix for. I wanted for someone to tell me if there are any tricks to get rid of the feedback. Because I see it is pretty common. I moved the speakers away from the stage as far as possible. adjusted the frequencies for every single singer. is there anything else I should think of?? Could the type of the speaker cause more feedback as well? I think the speakers I had were more for the laud music than for singing. The show went very well I just had to be carefull with some of the actors not to have them too high. I guess I would had to spend more time with frequencies.. if yes what is the best way to set them up? ?? I would just start from the left side of all of them going to right until i get a feedback. Any sugestions???

Because this isn't directly related to location sound, I don't want to take up a lot of board space, but I'd suggest a book like Live Sound Reinforcement by Scott Hunter Stark which will give you the knowledgebase to be able to correct problems such as feedback when they creep up in sound reinforcement. If you're mixing shows, you should do yourself a favor and read this one completely.
