So i have to write a 10 minute script for my screenwriting class and im pondering ideas... here's one just let me know what you think.

So theres this guy he's and EX-con and he now works as a mail man, rugged past used to be in some pretty heavy stuff (gang related) he's been out of prison for a bit met a girl that he seems to like and getting his life back on track. But here's the thing... His idiot brother has got involved in some pretty serious stuff (perhaps he owes some guy money) and now our main character must decide if he should stay away from his old life or if he should ignore the fact and stay out of his brothers business.

would be hard to do in 10 mins i know but you could jump into it and see where it goes?

pointers?

The only thing that leaps to mind is that there's no way on earth the Post Office is going to hire an ex-con to be a mailman. Can you give him some other profession?

This would be compelling if he has a STRONG reason for staying straight and keeping his nose clean, but feels he has no choice but to help his brother -- who would have to be in SERIOUS trouble for this guy to be willing to risk everything to help him. It's the old 'rock and a hard place' scenario.

Good luck!

Yeah...stay clear of any job requiring a background check. Make it construction (or the mortgage business - just kidding). Maybe he has started his own construction business and he tells his brother he will help him out with a job, but is not going back into the "Thug Life." He will bend but not break under the pressure coming form his brother's troubles. In the end he needs to stay his course.

hey guys thanks a lot for the feedback its great to hear your ideas. Yeah I didn't really think over the mail man thing very well, just thought that would have been such a random job for an ex con to have haha. i think it would be hard to tell this story in 10 minutes though, i mean you could just have to jump into it right away
