Feedback on Tascam Dr-60D

Borrowed my buddy's DR-60 (thinking of selling my DR-100 MK II) and accidentally moved my Rode NTG-3 too close to the unit and got some ear-shattering feedback on HIGH gain, but with the level down to around 1/3. No feedback on MEDIUM gain at any level. I have never gotten this with the DR-100.

Any thoughts?

well assuming there isn't an electrical fault happening you got it pointed at your headphones for some reason.

Acoustically induced feedback is common when a mic is in close proximity of the HPs... the onset depends many factors, type of HPs (open/closed ear) mic type, gain and monitoring volume are the usual suspects. Electronic signal path loops are usually identifiable by a different 'ring' characteristic.

Okay, thanks guys. I always associated feedback with speakers but headphones are essentially speakers. Rick, they are Sony MDR-7506s so closed ear I assume...

"Sony MDR-7506s so closed ear I assume..."
- Your assumption is correct, the 7506 are of the closed ear design.

What are the differences between the dr1'00mkii and DR60? XLR inputs?
Aren't you happy with the mkii and you want to sell it?

Rich sorry if you misunderstood me! It's my english fault. Just wanted to hear your personal opinion as it happened to me to hear good reviews from DR100 and wanted to understand why scorsefan was planning to pass to DR60. That' s it

I am happy with the DR-100 but short on cash and my partner has a DR-60D that we could use, so if all else is equal I may sell my 100.
