Feedback on New Computer

Iam looking to get a Dell Computer to replace my old one and the specs are..
P4.3mghz Dual core. 800FSB
1 gig Ram DDR 533mhz
256 video card
160gig hard drive
19in Monitor, Flat screen.
I will get an additional hard drive from New Egg for video storage..500gig.
This package doesnt come with a 2nd hard drive and you cant add one. Some kind of special price for the company I work for. Total price is $1300.00. Iam curious in the raid drive config but dont know much about this. What do you folks think.

Not bad for the money. You may want to make sure the MB supports RAID if that's your plans. It's really not necessary these days with fast SATA drives running 7.2k and faster.
I have four storage drives in my system: 2x250 (500GB) on a hardware RAID 0 setup and two seperate 250's for what looks like three drives in my system. I alternate drives on projects and have noticed no difference in writing to the RAID or the individual drives.
 
Sirius, What do you mean by MB? Stupid question, but Iam scratching my head on what this . Opps, wait..do you mean Mother Board?
 
That's a good price. I'd wait til Black Friday to do it... but you might wanna invest in more ram. 2 gigs is great for alt+tabbing between premiere and after effects/photoshop.
 
Hey John, not a bad system, I would get 2ghz if you can afford it. definately get a second hard drive for your editing though, you want to keep system volume seperate from your video volume.

Also, if you plan on editing HD stuff, see how much the upgrade cost to the 24" dell monitor is. Its 1920 rez will put a smile on your face.
 
Thanks for the feed back. I bet that Dell 24" cost a few bucks, but I will check into it. AS far as the ram, I asked Dell for the cost on another gig of ram and he stated it would be around 169.00. I might can do better from New Egg on that. I"ll have to check. Right now, we have 2 DVX100As, Vegas6, Steadicam Flyer and HD could be a little down the road as far as purchasing the new Panny.
