Fee Suggestions

I need some suggestions on fees for a gig. It would be a series of interviews, all inside, with basic lighting. There would be myself shooting on an AF100, an inteviewer, and the talent.
A formula could be developed - $50 base cost for a 10 minute edited video and then $2 a minute up to 20 minutes. That would make a 30 minute video around 100$ including tax. These numbers are CDN which is roughly the equivalnet to US if that helps.

The interviewer should get something here. He has developed the questions which will be the same for all of the invterviews. Each interview takes about 10 minutes and we might do as many as 10 but it could be as little as five.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions. Gary

How much money do you need to make annually to cover all of your personal and professional expenses (including saving for retirement and the like)? How many hours do you think you can realistically work in a year? Divide the money by the hours and you'll get an idea of how much you need to charge.

My basic rate structure is $200 for the first finished minute and $75 a minute for additional. I adjust this downward for projects with long segments that require little editing- but generally, my rate is on the low end by most US standards. Many of the "interview/b-roll 1 minute quickie web video with no lighting" places pay similar amounts to my rate to videographers but charge more like $600 to the client. So I think you may be way too low.

That being said, since you could do as many as 10 videos at once without additional travel/setup, that would tend to bring the rate down at bit.
