Fee for on-location shooting?

I've done a couple of small video projects on my own which has gotten my name out a little bit locally, but now I've been approached by someone who wants to hire me for a gig. (My previous projects were mostly just for fun)

The job would require me to travel with a group of people for 2-3 days, shooting mostly candid footage, then editing together a highlight/memory DVD of the trip. Since I've not really been hired for a job like this before, I'd just like some input on what to charge. I was thinking in the neighborhood of $200-$250 per day, plus another $150-$200 for putting together the DVD.

Any comments/suggestions welcome. I'm their first choice right now, and while I want to be adequately compensated for my work, I want to remain competitive enough that they don't feel like they're being ripped off.

that's seems adequate for a first gig. way below dv-shooter scale (4-700 a day with no gear), but for someone just starting out that's sounds right. However, I would make sure travel and food was covered too.
