Actually, we mentioned the "uniform violation" within the first quarter of the game. Check the Tivo (film reviews).
Of course those who kept theirs under 5:00 are going to make jabs. It's the nature of the beast/game. If we had known we could do 7:00 then maybe our flicks could have been better (or, in my case, much MUCH worse - I cut a VERY long scene where all I do is wrestle a monkey and chase a ferret around my room. Comedy gold, I tell ya.)
It was a great flick John. If it sucked and won then we'd definitely call a foul. But it was a high-quality production and worthy of a prize. Your talent and skills as a filmmaker were never the target of our jabs. You know we love you!
We should really be going after Barry_S. He's the one who allowed your video in the competition. Yea! LET'S GET BARRY!!!

I really liked Luper. I thought it could've been even shorter. It would be interesting cut it down to five minutes. Kill the darlings and really tighten the screws on that corpse. From what I remember of it, the answering machine messages dragged on. You really only need one or two.
EDIT: Just watched it again. Luper works really well. I take back what I said about cutting it to five minutes. The piece works well because of the slow build. Still think it could use a little tightening, but I don't care that it's over five minutes.

And for the record, I only mentioned the time limit twice. Once in my initial review (in which I also highly complimented your film) and once in the discussion when it became an answer to your question. I then took one humorous jab at it. I didn't campaign it, as you mocked.
In fact, please take a look. All posts were complimenting everybody's efforts, especially yours, and encouraging people to support the contest and to remind them it was still going on in the midst of a site revamp. not campaigning for myself to win.

Errr, did I mention you need to have a vinyl record in your March films. :happy: Maybe I did. How about someone making a film where these people get stranded on a desert island and all they've got for entertainment is an antique phonograph. And one guy has all these old opera 78's of Enrico Caruso and this girl has a bunch of dance records and the island divides into two factions because everyone can't agree on what to listen to. Then they have this big coconut war and just when things seem really bad, a coconut breaks open and they find a tiny alien egg inside. Then the egg hatches and this really scary alien (that doesn't look like Alien at all) starts stalking the islanders. But they manage to band together and figure out that an opera/dance remix is enough to drive the alien off into space. Yeah, I think I'd like that.

First of all; I have the biggest sense of humor in the history of a sense of humors; HAL.
Secondly; of course I apologize if this came off as out of character in an unusually mellow atmosphere; but after reading it for the umpteenth time (It wasn't just 2 times it was mentioned; it was an entire conversation in another thread about Rules and Reg's; maybe it just seems like it is in the umpteens).
And yeah, it just kind of struck a nerve reading it AGAIN especially in the "Winners" Announced thread. Why spoil the fun with that kind of comment? Wasn't the issue already addressed? "And the winner is.................." and then "Since they broke the Rules..........." why tarnish the glory? The point was taken looooong ago on the subject.
And PK. Calling the jeresy rule no matter what time the clock says is a cheap tactic and is saved for the team that knows they can't win (I am not implying that element I am only illustrating the call). Maybe you don't play ball so my analogy might be wasted on that.
I said it earlier; I was so stoked to finally have the time to put something together especailly for the contest in our community and then to have the time issue lambasted; I appreciate the props the film was given but it seems alot of negative energy was spent on the time issue whereas I would rather have had the negativity directed at what went wrong in the short itself.
Anywaaaayyyyyyy; Antomic; you my nizzle and the literal word can come across as bullshit in cyberspace; consider how this would go down across a couple beers at our favorite watering hole; am I serious? Yes. Is it a major deal? No. It's more a "Duuddee. Come on!"

For what it's worth, I never notice how long any of the films are. If they are entertaining, then they aren't long enough. If they aren't entertaining, then I turn them off.
