FEBRUARY DVXfest DISCUSSION

im at work.. so i have to make this fairly quick. i just wanted to give my two cents before the contest comes to an end. I really liked every one of the entries. great job everyone!

Love is a Devil - at first i had no idea what was going on (prob a result of my attention span). but after i watched it again i understood. the all-over-the-place editing was great. it just left me a little confused at first. otherwise a great story!

The Last Kiss Goodbye - the 2x4 and the outfit were amazing. i thought the acting was good and the film itself was visually pleasing. i really liked the humor too, the timing and delivery was great.

Homeless Hearts - where in the earth did you find a crystal ball? :) i thought this was a touching story. i agree that the homless man was wearing some pretty snazzy jeans! the sharing at the end was great, nicely done!

Luper - HOLY ****!! YOU GUYS WENT WAY OVER THE TIME LIMIT!! QUICK EVERYONE LIGHT UP THEIR TORCHES AND GRAB THEIR PITCHFORKS! LETS GET EM!#@

ps lighting/story/improv were top notch! the final shot kinda scared me. good stuff!

Feelings - Edgar wanted me to thank you for your comments.. he says "thank you for your human kindness.. you make us participate in positive emotions"

The Morning After - the lead guy is great! a really good actor i must say, the girl was good too! visually it was awesome.. it looked exceptionally nice. i still dont know what the story actually was... kind of a confession im supposing. regardless.. i liked it a lot.

Romance is Dead - nice effects dude! "then we started talking about the future.. and she FREAKED out on me" ahahah i love it. man you were right on with everything. did you know that parking guy? or did you just sit there and ramble? ahah. great story, and loved the paper heart on your shirt. so many great things squeezed in to 5 mins.. great job man!

Jarred or Barry or any Admin who cares......could we start a thread somewhere and *sticky it* for all the shorts and feature films that have been...or are being filmed on the DVX100. There is starting to be quite a number of them. Of course I know the big ones like *November* but others are popping up all over the internet now. Horror Movies like *Sleepover Nightmare* and the new *Motorhome Massacre* that I just read about. Maybe we could keep an updated list of them *sticky'd* on a page somewhere for easy lookup? Also it is easier for me to actually *BUY* them if I know they exist. I'm trying to build a collection of *Filmed with DVX* movies for referece. The more the better!! Any suggestions? ~reservoir~

ALL the shorts and features? Well, the shorts are too numerous to list, but we could have a list with the features somewhere. I'm looking to streamline things with some of the new software features, so maybe not a sticky, but some other sort of beast. Give me some time to think on that one.

Thanks for the reply Barry. I'd personally like to see and inhouse database of DVX features and some shorts (the really popular ones like *Art history*) in a IMDB style where we had alot of details regarding the films and their production. Maybe pics too if we had enough server space. I think it would be alot easier to reference everything here rather than running all over the internet tracking down pics, details, googling this....googling that....etc. ~reservoir~

Love is a Devil
Interesting storyline, I saw the end coming a mile away though.

The Last Kiss Goodbye
Excellent, great pacing, maintained the comic suspense throughout without giving too much away too soon.

Homeless Hearts
A little slow, but overall a nice little touching story.

Luper
Nice work John! Very pro looking in an indie sort of way. Great story concept too!

Feelings
Domo arigoto mr. roboto!! This was a fun little piece, I think even if you get the money to really do this one up the robot suit needs to be that cheesy!

The Morning After
Man this one really went for it! And it worked. You really nailed it. Great job!

Romance is Dead
Great story, very funny, nice special fx. You need to work on your voiceovers though, you could really here the room tone/camera noise/computer fan/60 cycle hum...whatever it was underneath the VO then it gets all quiet when the speaking stops. But it doesn't change the fact that you made a great short!

Man it's gonna be hard to pick a winner out of this lot!

LuzCruz - Thanks and good luck. You had a great video.
Bradbro - Thanks for the compliments and for the advice. I just got a new shotgun mic. That should help with cutting down on room noise next time. It makes me cringe too.

Good luck everyone.

Holy Thread Revival, Batman!

To answer your question, I'm sure there will be an official entry page. It may not be posted yet.
