Features that take place in one location.

If The Shining qualifies, then lots of films do. Personally, I think that's stretching it since the hotel is so big and there's so much going on outside it.

In that case, how about:

Frozen, Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead, Day of the Dead, Alien, Friday 13th (including most sequels), One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest or Saw?

I guess it depends on how big this “One Location” is.

If you mean the majority of the shots are within one small location like a room....
Glenglarry Glen Ross
Under Suspicion
...
One location but in multiple rooms...
Gosford Park
Remains of the Day
Clue (so good)
Casablanca
Sexy Beast
Relic
...
Or something that moves like a ship, plane, spacecraft....
Sphere
Alien
Abyss
Event Horizon
Solaris
Crimson Tide
Das Boot
Any ship or airplane movie*

Or something like a huge one location like Tom Hank’s Island in Castaway. :)

Many other one location movies have been based on plays (rope, 12 angry men, etc) so you could look that up too.

Does Titanic count? Except for the start of the film, the rest is filmed within the confines of the ship.

There's one film that comes to mind though (just because it's so bad of a film) when I think about one location film: Scissors. I've mentioned it before on this site. It's truly a bad flick (stars a young Sharon Stone, came out in 1991) but it's filmed within the confines of a loft style apartment. Check it out just for the trainwreck of the plot, truly a bad film.

List so far...

Reservoir Dogs*
12 Angry Men
Panic Room
Buried
Phone Booth
Hard Candy
Cube
Rope
The Shining
Misery
Paranormal Activity
Funny Games
Rear Window
Lifeboat
Arsenic and Old Lace
The Man From Earth
Tape
Moon
Evil Dead
Dog Day Afternoon
Frozen
Alien
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
Glengarry Glen Ross
Sphere

I'm updating as we go. It's a personal list for myself so some suggestions may not make it and I will be researching others before adding them on if I'm not familiar with them.

The Shining works because almost all of it takes place within or around the hotel. I don't care about the size of the location, just that most of the film takes place there.

Great stuff, guys! Thanks and keep them coming if you have any others. I'm going to check into a few of the suggestions I'm not familiar with.

Actually just google "one room movies" and you'll find about 100 theads on different forums dedicated to this, with such movies like The Big Kahuna which i completely forgot about. :)

I'm more interested in what people here have to say. I probably should have pointed out that I'm looking for 'good' one location films. Luckily I've seen most of the films suggested and some people have mentioned if the movie is piss poor. :)

I am looking online as well though.

Cheers.

I think that movie was all over the place.

2 Girls and a Guy - really good movie all in one apartment and a little bit outside.

Feast (the Project Greenlight horror movie), except they were outside for a little bit at the end.

This might be a little bit of a stretch, but "Across the Hall" with Brittany Murphy. IIRC most of it was in a motel, a couple of room interiors and hallways, the lobby, etc.

Thanks! I'll see if I can find that.

So it is Movie Maker, specifically the annual guide to making movies 2011. The article is titled, "Required Viewing: One Location, 10 Great Movies" by Kyle Rupprecht. The ten "must sees" include: Saw, Moon, Phone Booth, Panic Room, The Breakfast Club, Das Boot, 12 Angry Men, Rear Window, Life Boat, and Rope.

What? SAW is a "Great Movie" one "must see", but Night of the Living Dead isn't???

Really? Really, really??
