Feature film OMF

Ok,

I'm trying to export an OMF for our sound mixer to finish our film.

Here's the rub, evidently, the maximum OMF file size supported by FCP is 2gig. Our OMF will exceed that limit and the program won't let me complete the export. I called Apple and the dude there was worthless, just kept explaining what my problem was, had no suggestions for a solution. I didn't call there to have my problem explained to me, i called there to explain my problem.

Thus, i come to you. Any ideas to get this sound exported, while maintaining timecode?

I had the exact same problem. Here's how I got around it (very easy, actually):
I broke the film into segments (not literally - I kept the timeline just as it was, but used the in and out markers to create smaller sections). I didn't need to reference time code or ANYTHING when reassembling the pieces. Once it was downloaded, I just butted the pieces up against each other, end to end, and all was good...and perfectly in sync. Just be sure that when you assemble the pieces back together again, that no little spaces are left between the different segments.

It's not a big deal. Just talk to your sound guy and see how he wants it split up. Some guys want it split up by track and others want it split up by time. Make sure you have 2-pop on the beginning and end so you can double check synch when you get the audio back and you should be good to go.

I think 2gigs is the OMF size limit no matter what software you are using.
