Feast!

I had already posted a mini-review of Feast in the original Feast thread...

basically: a good B movie send up, mixed results from the cast, good gore-over the top, but good, the script still sucks and they came up with an...interesting? backstory since test audiences wanted to know all the who, what, where and why of the creatures.... frankly I think less is more in that respect.

I think Gulager did a great job with material that was sub-par even for the genre. It was a badly badly written script. Gulager definitely made it worth watching.

It's not the greatest movie ever, and its not the worst. It falls somewhere in the middle because even when doing a parody/homage to something, you have to be smarter than the original material and respect it. I don't think the two geniuses who wrote Feast had the wit or intelligence to write the Engine That Could.

See it for yourself though. It is definitely worth checking out. And it will make you want to see more from Gulager. And less from some of the actors and definitely screenwriters...

Good review. I saw a sneak screening of Feast and I think that about sums it up. Bravo is rerunning that season of Project Greenlight now -- it's interesting to rewatch them now that I've seen the movie. I hardly noticed all the details that were major sources of drama in the PGL series.

Yea, that's a good point to make as well. I think they really tried to MAKE more drama than there was. A lot of it was just to make good TV. I think Gulager's biggest issue was the casting director going behind his back-that was real. Everything else I feel was just played up a bit for the camera.

it's obvious the show played up as much drama as possible, which i really didn't like. However I've heard a lot of people say it's the best season, but to me it's the worst because it's all arguing and fighting about a project that looks like it's going to not be very good.

I like the other seasons because they're so much lighter, it's wish fullfillment. We get to see people have their wishes come true. Who wants to see people's wishes dashed, arguing and depressed.

Well, I guess quite a few people do.

Interestingly I just watched the unrated, uncut DVD of Feast and its a little different from we saw last month at the screening. The little text intro to "explain" the creatures (similar to what was used in the trailer) wasn't present. Otherwise I think there's little changes here and there from what we saw last month.

One thing that bothered me more on the "small screen" was the jumpiness of the attack scenes. For some reason it was a lot harder to figure out what was happening in certain scenes. (A friend of ours who hadn't seen it before kept saying who was that? what happened?)

Other than that... yep... its kind of fun to see the finished product of a movie you spent some time watching production on, seeing how it all fit together... but: bad acting and a bad script make this movie more of a beast than a feast for horror fans.

Just got this yesterday and watched it today. It was a fun ride, plenty of plot holes and what have you but a genuine b-horror movie. Horse has got to see this. How can you not love a movie with the line, "The monster's cock is stuck in the door."

And the ****ing Spaghetti Western music toward the end...inspired...

You know what would make this a great buy?

Offering the Project Greenlight series with it.

Does anyone know where I can find the Project Greenlight series at all?

And FEAST sells for 29.99 at blockbuster. To hell with that. Amazon, please.

Consider me convinced.:beer::beer:

Yeah its a shame there weren't more moments like that. Actually those are the moments from the movie that are the only really memorable ones. Frankly I laughed repeatedly when Beer Guy keeps saying "it's looking better right" referring to his eye.

Not to sound redundant, but in the hands of better, more talented writers the idea and the handfull of good one liners could have been a memorable B movie. It's funny how many one liners they tried to stick in there!

i saw a version a little over a year ago at Fantastic Fest. Personally, I found it a little hard to tell what was going on - who was where - who was doing what. But I know they have made major changes since the version I watched. I definitely hope the best for Gulager and would love to see more from him.

SPOILER ALERT

Was that Jay from Jay and Silent Bob that got his face ripped off?

And wtf was up with the sex stuff? Way over the top.
