FD Lens stuck, Please Advise

I was putting my lenses on my digital rebel (with eos to fd adapter) to test out shots before building the letus rig, and when I took the 200mm off the rebel and went to put it on the letus I realized it was stuck in the unlocked position. The 200mm has the little push button on the locking mechanism and I cant seem to push it hard enough to engage it and allow me to lock the lens. Anyone have advice on how to open it up and free this baby up without trashing my lens?

So I tried what you said, which didnt work... then I tried it on the cam again, back to the cap and BOOM. It doesnt feel right still, but im getting it to lock to my cam again and there is a cap on it no securely.... I will stop by a camera shop one f these days to get it looked at.. but I appreciate your advice. It led me in the right direction.
