Fcs 2?

Hi there,

I am about to pull the trigger on a Mac Pro for use with FCS 2, and I wanted to hear from the horses mouth that it's worth it.

My main goal is to cut my demo reel, which is all different formats and framerates. I heard that FCS 2 allows you to seamlessly use footage in all different formats and framerates together on the same timeline, is that true?

Is it handling MXF natively now (ie no unwrapping to mov)?

Is Color all the Coens say it is?

Thanks!

To a certain extent, yes.

No, not without Raylight.

Color is what you make it. But in the right hands is incredibly powerful.

Thanks!

If you can afford FCS 2- yes it is by all means absolutely awesome.

Well for example mixing 60p and 24p DVCPROHD into an HDV timeline is going to be mush. You need to make sure the formats being mixed are compatible to a certain extent. The MF timeline is not an excuse to avoid being careful in choosing your shooting format.

I'm talking about demo reel stuff, though. I choose the best recording format for each show, which means I end up with a pile of different formats for my reel.

I intend to mix standard def tape 24p, possibly some 30i, 720/24pn and 1080/24p/24pa. All the HD stuff I have comes from the HVX.

Will that stuff mix successfully?
