FCPX import media question

I have imported media to fcpx and selected to "leave files in place." It still is importing them and transcoding them to .mov files. Am I missing something? Any help is appreciated.

FCP will transcode the media and put it in the library. Your original files should be left in place. It may say importing, but the originals are being ingested and transcoded to whatever codec you decided to use.

Transcoding to Optimised can be switched off in the FCP X preferences if not required.
