Hi
I want to create a dvd to send to film festivals of a 2 hr film from a 1080i timeline. I will create a .img so multiple copies can be made.

Is it going to fit easily onto a single dvd?

Any idea how long it will take to create the .img on my MBP? I think it may take 16-20 hours.

Any tips or suggestions for the process?

I don't have Compressor compatible with FCPX, since it will only be a very simple dvd with a few chapters, I'm thinking doing it in FCPX is fine.

best,

120 minutes of video with .ac3 audio would need about a 4.8 bit rate to fit on a 4.7gb DVD. I'm not sure what quality FCPX will give you at that bit rate since Apple doesn't do too well at lower bit rates. Compressor at least will give you the ability to tweak the settings a bit so you can turn on frame controls for the downconversion.
By .img do you mean a disc image? That would be a .iso wouldn't it? Either way, make sure what you're burning is playable on a set top DVD player. Some of the formats and burns will play back on your mac, but a standalone DVD player will spit it out because the disc isn't formatted right.
