FCP5 : Time Remap: why not?

So I tried to do this the same way I've done it many times before: Go to the "motion" tab in the viewer, under "time remap" I change the "speed %" from 100 to say 50& or 60% when I switch back to the video tab, an error message reads "Unable to complete command. A conflict ocurred during a trim operation" ??? There is plenty of handle, I haven't done an update or anything, it just started happening for no apparent reason. Any thoughts?

I have run into this problem when there is nowhere for the additional length to go. i.e. there is a clip after the clip you're trying to adjust in the timeline. This applies to the audio tracks, too. If you can move everything to the right of your clip out some, it leaves room for the remapped clip to move. Alternately, you can lock down all other tracks and try it.

I've found that I've had to make room for the remapped clip.
