FCP5, is it worth it?

Hey guys - just about to start editing a small project and was wondering if I should update from FCPHD to FCP5? Is it worth it? Have there been any more advances in the coloring tools?

Hey, Acore!

The most significant improvements in FCP 5 are: multicamera (I know you heard that) and stability/functionality of the tools inherited from cinema tools and the media manager now actually works. Before FCP 5, everybody I knew that was using it to edit on film was still using FCP3. So if you are working on video, I don't see any real reason to upgrade, exept if you shot this with more than one camera. I think general stability is also better, but if the HD is not giving you a hard time, I say you could easily live without.

Soundtrack pro seems to be a killer update though, but I can't get it to work propperly (too many bugs and beachballs)... Maybe I need more hardware since my RAM is so low...

Good luck!

I use FCP 5 and the main thing I like about it is the improved motion filter quality. You can actually scale stuff in FCP now without it looking ****. Other than that there are some little bits here and there (like a "reveal in finder" function for the browser) but the basic stuff remains the same. Compressor 2 is great and worth the upgrade, but FCP5 is the same FCP if you don't deal with multicam or HDV.
