FCP2 and Mac book pro.

What will be the performance of FC Studio2 on the latest Macbook pro in terms of (rendering)speed. Does FCP2 require a faster computer again?????

The MacBook Pro's should do just fine. Especially in regard to your question about rendering. That's a processor intense aspect of things. The new MacBook Pro's hold up well thanks to their Intel chips. Though if you're looking to buy a new MacBook Pro, hold off another month or so. I believe we'll see a new MacBook Pro line announced soon thanks to new chips from Intel (and hopefully released soon after the announcement).

cheers.

Yes, everyone is expecting updates to all Apple lines by the end of June since everything is past their average update cycle date. The Macbook just got updates. The only exception MIGHT be the Mac Pro since the 8-Core was added...of course, this is mearly another option, not an update to the whole line...either way, hold off until June 11th at least for WWDC.

As for the speeds, the Macbook Pros are slightly faster than the Dual-Core G5 that used to be available, so yes, they are fast.

I thought the update of the Mac book pro in june will only be a new platform (santa rosa meaning a faster front bus, higher speed wifi) and not a faster processor !!!!

No one knows what Apple will do until they do it...I suggest waiting...It's only a few weeks anyway.

I did a SmoothCam test with the same media on both my Dual 2.3 ghz G5 and my Core Duo 2.16 MacBook Pro and the MBP smoked the G5!

At first, I thought mayeb I did something wrong, so I ran the test again. Same results: the MacBook Pro was drastically faster. So, for one more test, I started analyzing the same clip on my MBP when my G5 was a third of the way through it's analyzing of the same clip and it still beat the G5! (It was about 30% faster even after I started it later.)

I can't imagine how much faster a MacPro would be in these tests. ;) Now, as soon as those OctoProcs wiggle down to something south of $3500, I'll dive in.
