FCP X acting very weird - Skimming won't turn on, inspector acting weird, etc

Not sure what's going on with my FCP X but its acting very odd lately. For example, I can't select skimming at all in my timeline, the S key shortcut doesn't work and if you press it it just selects and but doesn't take. I can't turn off snapping either oddly.. Also it won't let me use the P tool to move around clips. These are all functions that used to work fine and just one day randomly stopped working right.

Additionally, my inspector acts weird sometimes and wont' allow me to see the transform, crop, and distort info as well. If I click on "show" it doesn't do anything.

I was on fcp x 10.0.9 I believe, and then in an effort to resolve these problems tried updating to Mavericks and 10.1.1 and no help. I even tried totally uninstalling FCP X and re installing, as well as trashing preferences. No difference. Any ideas?

Did you perform a Clean Install of Mavericks?
If not the bug in FCP X may have been migrated over to the newer OS.
